A Bit About Us
Our group is focused on telling the sometimes forgotten stories of the men and women Civilian War Correspondents. Through research, archives, newspapers, and original films, we build our group authentically and to a high standard. We want to ensure that we can tell the stories of the civilians who sacrificed and served the war effort in many ways.
Our goal is to ensure that we can provide an interactive display and field unit to teach the public about film equipment and tell these stories of those who served.
WARCOS COLORADO LEADERSHIP

ALEX JAMES - FOUNDER
Inspired by both of his grandfather's WWII Army Service, Alex began his Living History Career in 2003 at the age of 16.
Alex developed a keen interest in history at a young age. Since 2003, he has portrayed various Impressions, including 4th Infantry, 34th Infantry, 2nd Infantry, 101st Airborne, Mail Clerk, Cook, Marine, Navy Seabee, Army Air Corps, and Civilian War Correspondent among others.
When Alex was 11 years old, his Grandfather Jim Williams gifted him a 1938 Kodak 35mm Camera, and Alex was enthralled. Some of Alex's best memories growing up, are spending hours in his grandfathers darkroom watching the process of developing and printing images take shape.
Since then, Alex has grown as an analog photographer primarily shooting on his 1938 Contax II, and 1938 Rolleiflex 111A, but he still shoots on that Kodak his Grandfather gave him all those years ago.
His Camera collection is ever growing, as he loves tinkering with old photographic parts and pieces.
Austin’s experience in photography began over fifteen years ago, working in digital video production and photography before transitioning into film photography.
His journey has led him into learning how to develop and print black and white images in the darkroom. Part of his mission is to continue to share the thrill of analogue photography with others and contribute his photographic skills to the reenacting community. His passion for all forms of historic photography is what led him to the WWII reenacting community.
By leveraging his years of experience in video production, it was a logical jump to also purchase a Bell and Howell 16mm camera to shoot moving images as well.
With all of these tools at his disposal he aims to create visual stories that blend history and reenacting into inspiring and educational experiences.
